Friedgen Family Scholarship

Gloria Friedgen was a PE teacher and coach of Volleyball, Basketball and Track in the '70's when this school was Fort Johnson High School Many may know her Husband, Ralph Friedgen, (former Citadel and Head Maryland Football Coach). Mrs. Friedgen remembers her time here as some of her best years in education. Her guest is Sharon Williams, an outstanding athlete in 3 sports whom she coached at that

  • time. The Friedgen Family has decided to create a scholarship for a male and female

athlete that displayed leadership qualities and played a sport for 4 years. Both Athletes will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

GRIT Scholarship

The Women’s Golf Committee at the Kiawah Island Club established a scholarship award called the Preisinger “GRIT” scholarship, given annually to a senior year female golfer in the Charleston county area who exhibits a Growth Mindset, Resourcefulness, Inspiration and Thankfulness. The winner will receive a $2000.00 scholarship.
