LON-CAPA
- Homework, quizzes, and exams can be found on LON-CAPA
- Due dates are also posted here
- Everything can be found in the “Contents” tab
- In addition to assignments, there are some video and
written examples on LON-CAPA
- Each question has a set number of attempts
–Most have 99 tries, but not all!

Brightspace
- LON-CAPA will sync grades to Brightspace where you can
view them
- My recorded lectures can be found in the “Kaltura Media
Gallery”
–You also have access to every other instructor’s recordings
- There may be technical issues with Boilercast this first
week :/

Piazza
- There is a Piazza discussion board for this class
- Any MA 16010 student can ask questions about
homework, studying, etc.
- The instructors as well as fellow students can answer
questions

- I’ll post pdf’s of my lecture notes from class
–Videos of these notes will be on Brightspace
- I’ll also post some past exam solutions eventually
- There will be extra credit opportunities eventually and I’ll
post them here

Quizzes
- There will be 12 quizzes this semester
- Each is worth 8 points
- Quizzes will appear on LON-CAPA eventually
- You will have a 24-hour window to take each quiz
- You will have 10 minutes to complete each quiz once you
begin

Exams
- There will be 3 midterm exams and then a final exam
–The final will be like a 4th midterm
- Each exam is worth 100 points
- You will have a 72 hour window to take each exam
- You will have 60 minutes to complete each exam after you
begin

Calculator Policy
- You may use any calculator you have or any online
calculator application
- You should only use it for numerical computation
–Some graphing calculators and online tools are capable of
doing much much more, but it is important to learn the processes instead of relying on an online source

Academic Dishonesty
- Purdue has a zero-tolerance policy for academic
dishonesty
- Obviously it’s much harder to enforce with online
homework, quizzes, and exams
- Instructors will look into anything that appears suspicious

Late Work
- If you are unable to complete any assignment in the given
time window let me know immediately!
- If you miss any assignment, you must contact me within 48
hours to be eligible for consideration of an extension
–You might need documentation (like a doctor’s note)
- Just email me and we’ll figure it out

Quarantine/Isolation due to COVID-19
- If you have to be isolated due to COVID-19 you will have
access to a temporary academic advisor who will ensure you receive the course materials you need
- Send me an email as well so I can share some course
materials with you
- You will still have access to videos and the other online
materials

Grades
- The total points/grade breakdowns can be found in the
syllabus (on the course website)
- The grade cut-offs are already determined
–You can see exactly how many points you need for the
grade you want
- Homework is worth 5 points and the lowest 4 assignments
are dropped
- Quizzes are worth 8 points and the lowest 2 are dropped

Extra Credit
- There will be 4 extra credit opportunities
- The first will be an exam readiness survey a week or so
before exam 1
- The other 3 will up to me
–Probably a worksheet graded for completion –I’ll email you and post them on my website

Office Hours
- Office hours will be virtual this semester
- Depending on the schedule you will be able to
Zoom/WebEx with a MA 16010 instructor
–Might not be me necessarily
- You can still email me questions or we can find time to
Zoom and I’d be happy to help!

Protect Purdue Plan
- All aspects of the Protect Purdue Policy apply within the
classroom
- Everybody must wear a mask at all times in the classroom
- No eating or drinking in the classroom is permitted
- The desks are not allowed to be moved in order to keep
proper distancing
- At the end of class, please wipe down your desk area

- Any violation of these policies will have consequences
–Disciplinary measures may be implemented
- If you feel sick stay home and contact PPHC
- If you at any time feel unsafe in the classroom you may
leave without consequence
