B.6.6.5 The maximum permitted floor area for a secondary suite located within or attached to a single family dwelling is 90 square metres (968 square feet) or 40% of the floor area of the dwelling, whichever is less; B.6.6.6 The maximum permitted floor area for a secondary suite located within an accessory building is 90 square metres (968 square feet); B.6.6.7 A secondary suite must not be located within a manufactured home; B.6.6.8 For lands outside of the ALR, a secondary suite shall not be permitted on a lot unless the owner of the lot has registered a restrictive covenant under Section 219 of the Land Title Act in favour of the Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee prohibiting the registration of a strata plan under the Strata Property Act or Land Title Act which would result in the secondary suite being a separate lot.

Agricultural Land Commission Act Agricultural Land Reserve Use, Subdivision and Procedure Regulation “The following non-farm uses are permitted in an agricultural land reserve unless otherwise prohibited by a local government bylaw : (i) one secondary suite in a single family dwelling, and (ii) either (A) one manufactured home, up to 9 m in width, for use by a member of the owner's immediate family, or (B) accommodation that is constructed above an existing building on the farm and that has only a single level.”

Give third reading of Bylaw 293 at the close of the hearing; OR C. Request staff prepare other amendments to the bylaw for further consideration; OR D. would trigger the need for an additional public hearing. E. Make substantive changes to the bylaw that requires additional consultation/re-referrals or additional public hearing; or F. Proceed no further with the bylaw.
