  4. Asset Verification Service (AVS) • What is AVS? A browser-based service for verifying assets belonging to consumers who require a 60- month asset review (OSIP-M without SSI).

  5. Asset Verification Service (AVS) • Why AVS? Social Security Act, Section 1940: “… each State shall implement an asset verification program… for purposes of determining or redetermining the eligibility of an individual for medical assistance under the State plan under this title.”

  7. Asset Verification Service (AVS) 1. Initial Eligibility Interview – Process will be similar, however Eligibility Workers will not need to gather bank statements, etc. 2. AVS Request Submitted – Designated staff at local offices will submit requests via AVS Web Portal

  8. Asset Verification Service (AVS) 3. AVS verifies assets via financial institutions, returning the following information: – Account branch name – Account branch address – Account owner(s) – Beginning-of-the-month account balances – And more! Full details can be found on the FAQ

  9. Asset Verification Service (AVS) 3. (Continued) Average Response Time 1.5 Days from Financial Institutions 90% of Responses 5 Days 95% of Responses 10 Days 99% of Responses 15 Days Everything will be available in the Portal.

Asset Verification Service (AVS) • How will this affect Eligibility Workers? – Consumers will not have to send bank statements or other financial documents for asset verification purposes. – Reduce some of the workload and time spent verifying assets. – Selected users will be utilizing a new tool to verify assets (Training WILL be provided!)
