  3. Our Year 9 plan  Maintain their excellent effort levels and motivation  Pursue greater academic progress.  Work together to support students through their options choices.  Establish effective routines in preparation for the step up to GCSEs.

  4. GCSE Options & Parents Evenings  The Year 9 options process begins week beginning 21 st November and runs through to 15 th of February.  Students’ careers fair in November.  Y9 Options Assembly- 10 Dec (Monday)  Guided PSHCE sessions with tutors.  Y9 Parents options briefing -11 Dec (Tuesday)  Parents/Options Evening on 7 th February  Options form live - 08 Feb (Friday)  Options form deadline - 15 Feb (Friday)

Key dates  Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze) – Parents information evening – Thursday 20 th September at 6pm in school hall.  Friday 5th October- INSET Day school closed to students  Friday 19th October - Term finishes for whole school at 3.35pm  Activities day 19 th October  20th October to 28th October (inclusive) - October Half Term  French Trip: 18 th – 22 nd October  Battlefields Trip 1: 22 nd – 23 rd of November Trips went live last week. See  Battlefields Trip 2: 31 st – 1 st of February latest parental  London Art Galleries: 22 nd January bulletin.  Activities days: 3 rd – 4 th June  Local area Geography – 5 th June  Reward Trip (HOY) – 7 th June Medical forms to be returned asap.  Drama Trip (TBC)  Sri Lanka Sports Tour – 17 th July – 27 th July

  6. Parental support & communication Working together to improve  Encourage 100% Attendance Uniform – see school website  Help with organisation – SMH & planners  Need a log on? Email: showmyhomework@farmors.gloucs.sch.uk  Alternatively, if you go to the login screen, select the forgot password option and put in your email address it will send a link to pick a password of your choice.  Support with homework – an hour a night.  Behaviour: reinforce school rules and praise  Communication – academic & pastoral support. Please make use of parental bulletin. Update contact details if change in family circumstances.

Newman and Debbie Dundas (New Drama teacher)  8CAB continues as 9CAB with C. Bass  8LK continues as 9LK with L. King

Challenges ahead… aged14+  Pushing the boundaries : Uniform (trainers, skirt length, ear piercing, make-up)  Health – Good night’s sleep – ideally 8 to 10 hours sleep recommended.  Social media and online gaming:  Put yourself in control Make use of the parental controls on your home broadband and any internet- enabled devices, including your child’s mobile phone.  Agree boundaries Have a family agreement and model the behaviour you desire.  Keep talking!  Internet Matters is a free online resource for every parent in the UK.  http://www.waddesdonschool.com/wp- content/uploads/2018/04/Online-Safety-flyer.pdf

  15. What are the intervention meetings? If we have concerns over EFFORT or PROGRESS. Parental invitation to meet with the Tutor at three points during the year to work together on strategies to resolve issues.
