E-LEARNING DAY HOW-TO GUIDE

Andrea Brackman and Greta Rohe

What is an E-Learning Day and why do we have them?

■ E-Learning Days are when students are engaged in virtual options for learning instead of physically attending a school day. ■ E-Learning Days were launched by the Indiana Department of Education in 2014 due to the 1:1 electronic ratio in most districts. ■ E-Learning Days may be used on a day when school is cancelled, as a planned day,

  • r as a make up day when a day of school was missed.

■ Avon Schools met the IDOE criteria, filled out an online application, and received approval from the IDOE Office of eLearning in order to utilize eLearning Days.

What are the expectations for E- Learning Days?

■ Assignments will be roughly equivalent to school seat time for core subject areas. ■ Teachers will be available to answer questions from 8am-4pm through email or Schoology messages. Any message received after 4pm may not receive a response until the following school day. ■ Students have 3 school days to complete the E-Learning Day assignments. So, if your student does not have access to a computer or if they experience issues, they will be able to make up the work at school upon return.
