Summer 2015 Project

REMINDER

  • Sub-Feeder 1 Outage scheduled for August 1st and August 2nd.
  • This outage is to investigate, trouble shoot, test and repair the cause of repeated faults/failures
  • n Sub-Feeder 1.
  • In order to perform the proper investigation and testing numerous buildings will experience a

complete electrical outage.

Only emergency generator life safety systems will be in operation for the duration of the

  • utage.
  • During preliminary investigation a faulty splice was identified, this will be first priority on repair

list.

  • Additional building level Preventive Maintenance will be performed.
  • The duration of this outage is expected to be 8 (eight) hours for a two day period.
  • Once the cause is determined a plan for repairs can be developed and scheduled.

If time permits and materials are available, repairs may be able to take place during this outage.

  • August 8th and August 9th are scheduled for repairs or backup weekend.

  • Cougar feeders 1, 2, 3 provide the main source of power to the Campus via the Power Plant.
  • The electrical feeders are the main distribution to the campus and range from 20 to 40 years

  • A report by our Insurance carrier provided much needed deficiencies that warrant these

repairs.

In conjunction with the campus wayfinding project, a thorough review of our existing campus addressing was

  • initiated. As a result, an addressing grid was established

for the UH campus providing a locatable address for all UH buildings. Reasons for making this change:

  • Improving general public safety response to the

campus

  • Requirements for 9-1-1 enhanced dispatching

services

  • Ability to use maps/navigation applications (GPS)
