  1. Welcome and Introduction Thank you for coming to Hamburg! Main goal of the meeting - try to find a viable solution for SVD layer 3 ‣ discussion on possible new ideas started already at last B2GM, but more thorough investigations are needed ‣ hope to be able to do this „on the spot“ ‣ clearly this is an experiment with so many people in the room - of course there are many more questions that also require detailed discussion ‣ see next slide Organistorial matters - propose to have lunch in the DESY canteen - we propose to have common dinner (not in the DESY bistro) - if there is time and interest we can visit Hall North ‣ present assembly area for thermal mock-up (Karsten) ‣ H1 ‣ HERA tunnel SVD-PXD Mechanics Meeting 12.-13.04.2012 1 carsten.niebuhr@desy.de

  2. Flexible Agenda from Thursday 12 April 2012 (09:00) SVD/PXD Mechanics Meeting to Friday 13 April 2012 (17:00) Europe/Berlin at DESY, Sem. Room 5 Description: Title: Mechanics for PXD and SVD Description: Meeting of the mechanics groups from PXD and SVD to discuss mainly the "layer 3" support for the SVD and develop some ideas about the installation procedure for the VXD Thu 9:00 - 18:00, DESY, Sem. room 5 Fri 9:00 - 17:00, DESY, Dem. room 5 Thursday 12 April 2012 | Thursday 12 April 2012 top 09:00 Welcome and Introduction (15') Carsten Niebuhr 09:15 Status of SVD mechanics and the "Layer 3" Problem (30') Immanuel Gfall 09:45 Proposal for the SVD ladder support (30') Tscharlie Ackermann 10:15 Alterantive Proposals: Brain Storming (45') SVD-PXD Mechanics Meeting 12.-13.04.2012 2 carsten.niebuhr@desy.de

  3. IR Summary by Shuji Tanaka at last B2GM Discussion point (2) Discussion point (1) Between beam pipe and PXD: Between PXD and SVD: 1, Beam pipe design:done 1, PXD mechanics design:done 2, PXD mechanics design:done 2, PXD cables, pipes:almost done 3, PXD cables, pipes:almost done 3, PXD PP design: should be finalized 4, Heavy metal shields: optimizing by BG,cables, 4, SVD support cone design: should be finish soon PXD-PP 5, Heavy metal shields: optimizing by BG,cables, PXD-PP All mock-up will send to MPI, then the detail design I think that MPI will have mock-up, then the detail discussion will be finalized by MPI. (produce by KEK group) should be done between MPI and Vienna. Discussion point (4) Discussion point (3) Main player of this region are cables and pipes. Between QCS and CDC: 1, QCS design: done 2, CDC design: done End-Flange: 3, Cables, pipes: under discussion 1, End-flange design: first design has finished 4, Additional shield to protect TOP: 2, Cables, pipes, connectors: under discussion -> under discussion 3, Thickness requirement from BG sim.: study on going (no hole of shield is required-> additional shield for cable holes) 4, SVD support cone design: should be finish soon 24.5mm~32.7mm 5, Heavy metal shields: optimizing by BG,cables, PXD-PP between CDC and QCS 21 SVD-PXD Mechanics Meeting 12.-13.04.2012 3 carsten.niebuhr@desy.de

  6. IR Summary by Shuji Tanaka at last B2GM How to optimize service assembly procedure? My opinion: • MPI+DESY group produce one more mock-up. – Assembly procedure for services are took care by MPI+ DESY +LMU+Bonn+Vienna+Krakow groups for outside of heavy metal shield and outer End-flange region Target: • How easy to install those. • Faster installation • KEK group will take care assembly tables and services inside of heavy metal shield. How do you think about this? On the case of requiring modification of KEK design, Tanaka will take care for each sub-groups SVD-PXD Mechanics Meeting 12.-13.04.2012 6 carsten.niebuhr@desy.de

  7. SVD2 Ladder of 1st Layer arrived at DESY Tsuboyama-san: The ladder looks like this. A test production of the mount block is also included. The ladder is made of plastic parts, ribs made of aluminum and glue tape. I did not use real glue. Therefore it can be broken in the transportation. When the meeting is over, please pass this to Vienna people. The ladder parts are really cheap but the Kapton flex costs 1500 Euro each and can be used for the final product.
