Students will have the opportunity to engage in a student centered, personalized and blended learning environment. The curriculum features courses in mathematics, science, language arts, world languages, social studies, and a variety electives to choose from. Students may benefit from

FULL VIRTUAL STUDENT

Description: A student who completes all course work online in a remote location with face-to-face sessions only when requested by either the student or the teacher. Grade Level: 6 – 12 Eligibility:

  • Students must be enrolled in Huntsville City Schools
  • Students must agree to the Student Technology Acceptable Use Agreement
  • Students must have an overall grade average of 75 for grades 6-8 and an overall

grade point average of 2.5 for grades 9-12 or receive superintendent recommendation

  • Students must maintain a minimum of 60% mastery in all courses.
  • Students will provide their own transportation to the virtual school for requested

tutoring, mid-term and final exams. Virtual School Course Options: Listed on Huntsville City Schools website

REGISTRATION

Section I – Full and Flex Virtual Student

  • Students will register for courses

during the district registration window.

  • Students will discuss the online option

with a parent/guardian

  • If a student decides to choose the
  • nline option, he/she will submit their

course registration form by March 16, 2018 indicating the desire to choose the flex or full virtual option. Section II – Full Virtual Students Only

  • Students/parents will complete the
  • nline application
  • A virtual school staff member will

receive the application for processing.

  • Once accepted the

parent/guardian will be notified via email by April 18, 2018 to receive an appointment to complete the virtual school registration process and select classes.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Attendance – students must log onto the learning management system daily working towards course completion. Grades – students grades will be reported at the end of each semester/term. VS Calendar – The virtual school will follow the same calendar as Huntsville City Schools.
