DRESS CODE Hair  Neat and clean  Natural colors  Out of eyes  No spiked or Mohawk hairstyles  No extensions of hair pieces  No metal clips or bobby pins  If worn, ponytail holders or headbands must be black, brown, or white cloth and must remain in hair all day  No head coverings Personal appearance  Natural color: eye shadow, lipstick, lip gloss (no chapstick)  Nail polish: clear (French or American manicure is okay)

  5. You may wear a sweatshirt during the school day. Sweatshirts must be either solid grey, black, white, or navy. Sweatshirts must be free of logos, designs, zippers, hoods, or pockets. You may wear a jacket, coat or sweater to school; however, any outerwear must be removed prior to entering the building and hung up outside the classroom.

  9. Students may participate in community service at approved nonprofit organizations. All community service must be approved by Dr. Jackson before it is started. Students doing 30 hours of community service will receive 500 points off of their total points needed for release.

  10. ATTENDANCE Only the days you are physically present at DAEP count to reduce the number of days assigned. To report a student’s absence, the parent or guardian must call DAEP attendance by 9:00 a.m.

ARRIVAL & CHECK IN School Hours 7:45- 2:55 o No transportation is provided o Check in begins at 7:45 and ends at 8:00 o Students cannot arrive prior to 7:40 o Tardy students must enter Main door and check-in with attendance AFTER SCHOOL PICKUP BEGINS AT 2:55 P .M. All students must be off campus by 3:15

  12. DAEP SUPPLIES  All necessary supplies will be provided for the student.  NO BACKPACKS OR BOOK BAGS are allowed.

  13. Breakfast and Lunch Lunch accounts transfer to the Keller Learning Center. Breakfast: All Grades: $1.20 Lunch: Grades K-4: $2.95 Grades 5-12: $3.05 Adults: $3.80

  14. SACK LUNCH The sack lunch must be packed in a clear, Ziploc bag. We do not refrigerate or microwave any food. All items must be sealed. We do not allow:  Soda  Fast food  Gum or candy  High energy drinks  Drink mix packages  Pre-packaged sealed lunches with any of the above items

  15. COUNSELING PROGRAMS All students attending DAEP will receive a variety of guidance and counseling services through our school counseling programs These services may included:  Individual counseling  Group guidance and counseling  Guest speakers  Crisis intervention  Family consultation

  16. PARENT EDUCATION SESSIONS At least one parent or guardian must attend a parent education session prior to your student being released back to his/her home campus. Parent Education Sessions are held from 8-9 am or from 6-7 pm on the following dates: August 29 September 19 October 17 November 14 December 12 January 16 February 20 March 12 April 16 May 14 Children are not allowed to attend. Session registration is within online intake packet .

  17. School Property Parents or guardians are liable for the destruction of any school property by their student.

  18. Trespassing Policy DAEP students are not allowed to attend any KISD events (even if outside the district) or be on any campus (including your home campus). Students who are found in violation may receive a citation and/or additional time at DAEP .

  19. Reminder  Any item brought to DAEP is subject to search and may be confiscated.  Confiscated items must be picked up by a parent or guardian.  Items not picked up by end of student’s stay at DAEP will be discarded or donated.

  20. Reminder The student and parent/guardian are responsible for knowing and adhering to all information within the DAEP Handbook.
