The School provides training in Medical Practice licensing its graduates as doctors. The School of Medical Sciences was one of the first four schools of the newly founded University. The development

• f the School comprises two periods. The first period

continued up to 1920, the second started in March 1993, when the School of Fundamental Medicine was again

• pened at the University.

The School’s faculty includes 22 doctors of sciences, full professors, 68 candidates of sciences, associate professors and instructors.

Over 1080 students including 700 from other countries study here. Recently, our multinational faculty was replenished by 19 students from India. Training is provided at the facilities of the University Schools and Kharkiv research and medical institutions. The School focuses its research on the modern problems

has published the School of Fundamental Medicine Journal in English, in 2002 reorganized into the Kharkiv University Bulletin: Medicine.

Each year, the department trained more than 400 students, many of whom are foreign nationals. Graduating students have a high level

patient’s problems. Today, our former students successfully work not only in Ukraine but also in countries near and far abroad.

Areas of research: philosophical problems of clinical medicine; best management of patients; neurocardiology; biomechanics of the blood- circulation system; clinical functional diagnosing, and forensic medicine.

The Department is one of the leading in Ukraine and abroad as for the educational process. From the earliest days of its establishment, the work of the Department was based on the approaches of modern modular system, which is sequential from first to last day of training at the Faculty; teaching of Propaedeutics is based on syndromic principle, which today is common to all medical schools of medical profile; and from the very beginning, internal diseases are taught instead of faculty and hospital therapy, that nowadays also takes place in all medical faculties of the country; in teaching process in addition to conventional approaches, the latest computer technologies are widely used; the students participate in preparing of scientific and medical documentation from textbooks to lectures and so on.

Areas of research: methodology of clinic-population investigations, groups of risk for detection of high-level risk contingent, detection and modification of pathological changes of persons with the high level of risk of health and correction of risk factors.

Best students of the faculty take an active part in scientific activities and do scientific research, exploring the technique of surgery, dissection of a dead and filling of the autopsy protocol. These students attend undergraduate research study groups at the Department of General and Clinical Pathology. The Department is currently working on creation of new exhibits for the museum of anatomy and pathology.

anemia in pregnant women, especially of pregnant women with uterine- efficient infection (gonorrhea, colpitis, polyhydramnion et al.)

Areas of research: development and studying automatic control system of heart rate variability, psychohygienic measures to maintain student’s health in vocational- technical schools.
