  11. Scoping for Uganda Solar Sector Data Collection By Joyce Nkuyahaga

  12. • Rationale for Data Collection – why USEA is proposing this pilot • Benefits of participation for USEA and its members • Roles Outlined – what each partner is bringing to the table Key • Eligible products for the market sales data pilot points to • Scoping Outcomes – what data is under scope and how we aim address to segment it • Timeline and Next Steps • Feedback round!

  13. Data Collection Rationale • Need for more robust evidence and information about the contribution of solar energy to Uganda’s electrification status. • More granular data collection than the global one by GOGLA and Solar Lighting Global. Local Data with special details of the country Sector • Interest from investors , government , Ministry , REA and other stakeholders • Members to understand their individual contribution to the sector and benchmark themselves against the sector. • Grow membership value • Have strong evidence to support advocacy USEA • Understand the socio-economic impact of solar products on the general population • Build capacity and strenghten skills for its members

  14. Benefits of Data Collection • National Association can base For Members For USEA • Improved data on the Status of the their advocacy on sound Market (e.g. more granular evidences in a sustainable way. geographically, more companies • Conversation with the members involved) enable deeper understanding of • Understand their market share in needs and motivations comparison to all USEA members • Trust between association and • Companies can base strategic members is strengthened decision on robust and detailed • National Association can build information strengthen and extend its skills • Relationships builder with association • Attract new members

  18. Data Security & Privacy • Data confidentiality and trust between USEA Secretariat and the members are the key of the success of this exercise. • Company data will be only reviewed during the quality control and data processing by a limited amount of individuals identified and highlighted in the Data Governance Protocol and Non Disclosure Agreements that will be developed by Dalberg Data Insights (DDI). A Data security presentation will be given after the tea/coffee break by DDI!

  20. Feedback Round I 1. Let’s imagine that the questionnaire is ready and online. What would make you fill the survey tomorrow? And what would stop you? 2. Eligible products for this pilot are complete solar systems with a battery and a panel of less than 5 kWp. Is it clear? 3. After you heard all of that, is there anything you wish to be included? We will note all the points for minor improvements of this pilot and future rounds. Please hold your thoughts/comments on data security as they will be discussed right after the next presentation!
