In addition the presence and the visibility of the Sentinel with an always-lit light mounted atop the emergency phone tower provides high visibility and gives passers-by a sense of security. PROTECTION AT 360° Total control by software The call makes a two-way audio and video connection with the Control Station, sending real time images and pre-recorded images before the SOS button was pressed. At the same time a synthesiser voice is activated informing the user that the call has been forwarded to the Control Room. Video and audio connections can be made from the Control Centre to the SOS Column in order to carry out routine inspections. The Control Room can be a simple PC or a proper Call Centre managing several Sentinels by operators in multitasking. The Sentinel video recording systems is capable of recording images continuosly for days and send them via IP on request by an operator

• r automatically. No images are lost in the event of the IP network

being unavailable.

INSTALLATION Sentinel can be installed anywhere. It requires 24/h electricity power. It is equipped with a 42 Ah back-up battery which ensures normal

• peration in the event of power failure up to 12 hours.

OPERATION In stand by mode the columns carries out periodical checks on the state of the battery and anti vandalism sensors. By pressing the red SOS button for less than 3 seconds (programmable) a sythesized voice will adviser the user to keep the button pressed longer. This feature avoids false calls to the Central Control Room. If the button is pressed longer than 3 seconds a sythesized voice will adviser the user that the call has been transferred to the Centre.

REPORTING ACTS OF VANDALISM In the event of an act of vandalism the column can send a text message or make a call to the Centre. The type of warnings can be programmed i.e. :

• Lack of power
• Low battery
• Column vibrations
• Technical compartment open
• Temperature alarm

The column is equipped with an internal button to shut down the sytems and allow maintanance operations. The time and date of all events are recorded in the column memory. The firmware can be updated from the Operative Centre without necessity of on-site maintenance.
