Gender progress within ocean affairs

 Gender issues have been over-looked in ocean sectors and activities.  Women underrepresented in bodies established by UNCLOS:  In ITLOS only 3 (from 21) members are women.  No woman has been Secretary General or Deputy Secretary General of ISA.  Lack of statistics on ocean-related employment of women.

 Need to recognize the value of women’s labour.
