Matthew 13: 4,19 Birds are ministers of Satan This happened at Ephesus They forgot their first love They eventually withered away and dried up “Produces 100 , 60 , 30” the crop yield decreases. “He who has ears to hear, let him hear !”

2nd Parable: The Tares and the Wheat Parallel : 2nd Church SMYRNA

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear !” The wheat must suffer until the harvest Tares look like wheat, but turn black when the grains sprout

The parable speaks of the end of the age Similar to the letter of Smyrna The Suffering Church

3rd Parable: The Mustard Seed Parallel : 3rd Church PERGAMOS What does a mustard seed normally produce?

Leaven always represents sin

5th Parable: The Treasure in the Field Parallel : 5th Church SARDIS The Church - hidden throughout the Old Testament A hidden treasure is buried - symbolic of the dead (buried) church of Sardis

6th Parable: The Pearl of Great Price Parallel : 6th Church PHILADELPHIA

The Pearl represents the gentile Church We are what was purchased Philadelphia is the ONLY church promised to be removed Each of the 12 gates into the New Jerusalem are made of a giant pearl Removed from its place of growth to become an item of adornment The Faithful Church

7th Parable: The Dragnet Parallel : 7th Church LAODICEA

This last parable is like the last ‘age’ of the Laodicean church. It will be the most prevalent pulse: the Lukewarm Church at the Return of Jesus. The parable is similar to the last resurrection appearance recorded in John’s Gospel Rev 5:9 - ‘every tribe, tongue, people & nation’ ‘Some of every kind of fish’

Paul wrote 13 epistles that he signed: Three of these were to duplicate addresses Three of the remaining 10 letters were to pastors
