Goals of Academic Pathways
- Improve the way we advise incoming, under-prepared students
- Make major and course choice less overwhelming
- Reduce major switching, excess credits, and time to degree
- Expose students to multiple career options within the pathway
through courses (e.g., HLTH A151, BA A151, ENG A151) or advising
- Provide structured maps tailored to a student’s level of preparation
and area of interest
- Maximize chances of success in first year courses
- Help students choose the best major after some exposure to the
disciplines in the pathway
