OA Distance Reduction?

- Can the OA distance required be for reduced with a few extra
HC fluxes?
- Can we remove requirement for middle-distance OA
measurements? – say just ~30m + on-axis?

KS Test & Degeneracies
1/9/2020
Clearly plenty of degeneracies in the flux space Even more degeneracies in the solutions..
- Want to directly quantify some aspects of this degeneracy:
- how the shape & position of these distributions varies

Lower Momentum Beams
1/9/2020
- May be possible to run lower momentum proton beam to the
target
- Main Injector cycles faster for lower momentum beams →
relative flux intensity isn’t as bad
- Operate same set of horn configurations

Lower Energy Beams – 30 GeV
1/9/2020
- 30 GeV with 2x
scaling to account for increased MI cycle

Lower Energy Beams – 8 GeV
1/9/2020 Tom Lord | Beam Options for DUNE-Prism 31

Lower Energy Beams – 8 GeV – 5x relative scaling

On-axis HC fluxes
On-axis HC fluxes
1/9/2020 Tom Lord | Beam Options for DUNE-Prism 36
Initial Approach
1/9/2020
- Feed in all HC fluxes on & off-axis then reduce down to “best”
coefficients
- Fit quality depends on number of allowed additional fluxes
- Also on relative HC regularisation parameter
- Also on off-axis flux binning
- Also on how additional number of fluxes are reduced
Tom Lord | Beam Options for DUNE-Prism 37
Fit Method
- Solve using Tikhonov regularisation
- We want
satisfying
- If
is invertible, then
- Add regularisation with a tuneable penalty matrix,
, where
- r similar
- Then minimize
- The solution to this is
