The Small Step PEP acknowledges the distinction between two types of learners in made in the Rochford Review

For non-subject specific learners

• Steps 0-43 allowing recording of both the last key

milestone reached and number of milestones achieved altogether-milestones based on Quest for Learning/Routes for Learning For subject specific learners

• Steps 40-200 allowing small steps to be recorded

for Reading, Writing, Mathematics and other subjects as appropriate.

The Small step PEP is a pilot

• The use of the small step PEP will be monitored

and reviewed over the course of this academic year with our family of special schools so that it can be better tailored to need as information becomes available.
