Purpose

The Urban Design Framework Proposes to:

  • Formalize a structure and strategy to effect positive

change in the quality of Calgary’s public realm.

  • Serve as a guide for effective collaboration between

business units through a consistent, collaborative and coordinated process.

  • Provide information and clarification with regard to the

role of the Urban Design team and the design expertise that it can provide.

Urban Design Team, Roles and Responsibilities GUIDE DESIGN INFORM Specifically:

  • Urban Design Framework is the guiding document

for city business unit collaboration on projects and policy work involving urban design and the public realm.

  • The Urban Design Team in LUPP is the specialist

group responsible for guiding the City of Calgary urban design direction; creating urban design guidelines, providing detailed architectural and urban design review, as requested; and generally coordinating the conceptual design of improvements to the public realm.
