WHY THE COPTIC MISSION WAS INTERESTED TO BE INVOLVED WITH VULNERABLE CHILDREN AND WOMAN? In 2008 Coptic recognized the severity of the growing number of Street Children and Sex Workers just around our area in Nairobi
Program Statistics
- Enrollment in Coptic Church Street Children
and Vulnerable Women Programs in Nairobi as of September 2008:
–Total Numbers at Raha Kids Home: 71
- 56 of them between the ages of 5-15
- 8 of them between 16-19
- 7 of them have completed secondary School
- They receive clothes, food and shelter with us at the home
- All of them receive the medical care they need including HIV testing at the
Coptic Hospital and Hope Center
–Total number of Vulnerable Women(Sex Workers) since 2012: 65 Woman
- 44 have have been employed
- 13 were younger woman that we integrated back with their famalies
- 4 have returned back to streets
- All receive Counseling to encourage HIV/AIDS testing (80% have been tested)
- An additional 50 that we are serving them while they are still on the street
