DATA INGEST – Key issues

  • Formats used for data supply– spreadsheets

etc.

  • Information supplied – extent (volume, date

etc; vocabulary used to express status

Background to ONIX for Preservation Holdings

  • Looking for a standard way in which data could be

delivered/supplied by the keepers (rather than differently formatted spreadsheets)

  • ONIX for Serials (SOH) known to us because of AIMSS

project (data supply from Serials Solutions to EDINA)

  • Specific preservation requirements included:

preservation status; identification of gaps in holdings; authority/source of holdings information (archiving agency is not a subscriber)

  • EDItEUR contacted and this led to establishment of a

Working Group comprising key parties including representatives from the Keeper organisations
