Skills challenges • Education offer ≠ business needs • Lack of highly qualified and skilled workforce • Lack of cooperation between businesses, education and government • Difficult to forecast future skills needs and new occupational profiles • Lack of recognition of qualifications – bottleneck for mobility • Lack of awareness about career opportunities

  5. Blue Careers in Europe call 2016 Expected outputs: • Business-education partnerships • Local/regional cooperation • Improved employability • Training/education in line with industry needs • Increased awareness of oceans and blue economy

Blue Careers in Europe call 2018 Budget: €5 500 000 Closed on 31.01.2019 35 applications • Bringing together business and education • Based on labour market needs analysis • Addressing one of the following: • entrepreneurial skills • Structured collaboration between industry and education/training • “skills ecosystems” at sea basin level • Visibility of blue careers and improved ocean literacy
