  • 3 new replacement staff in HCMC all Australian Alumni
  • Establishment of Annual events that can build their own history; and the Fireside Chat

  • 2nd Annual Real Estate Symposium in HCMC expanded to Hanoi. Generated

  • Annual Balls, which lost money in 2013, were not brought back in 2014
  • In HCMC, Saigon Melbourne Cup was introduced and made a modest profit.

Secured cash sponsorship from Australia, generated publicity in media, raised the profile of Australia. Will be held again this year.

  • In Hanoi, the group, Aussie Oi, will host an “Australiana Ball” on 18 April which

AusCham has offered to help promote.

  • 2nd Annual Golf Scramble in HCMC which attracted a major hole in one prize (a

Harley Davidson) and media coverage. Also tried a golf day in Hanoi with modest success

  • Held AusCham’s first roundtable with CEOs and HR Directors
  • Secured a two year Titanium sponsorship deal with RMIT University Vietnam

Updated 2015 Charity Policy

At its meeting on 10 March, 2015, the Board resolved to update the criteria for selecting beneficiaries under its Charity Policy to fund sustainable (where appropriate) charitable projects that aim to alleviate poverty, raise living standards, create opportunities or provide crisis relief in affected communities. Charitable projects should meet the following criteria:

  • They have an Australian connection or are a Vietnamese NGO
  • They are sustainable (focus on investment rather than expenditure)
  • They are grass roots
  • They are operated by charities with administrations that are voluntary or consume

less than 15 per cent of revenue

  • They do not receive large corporate funding and their funding requirements are

similar, or less, to the funding already being generated

  • Preferably, not be aligned with or represented as corporate CSR programs

The proposed changes to the current Charter dated 24 March 2014 are designed to:

  • Restore voting rights to Vietnam-resident honourary lifetime

members

  • Introduce two new classes of membership; namely SME Voting

Membership and SME Associate Non Voting Membership for eligible organisations with less than 20 employees; and

  • Address certain other minor points aimed at improving

consistency and clarity.
