The Arc ▪ Largest national community-based organization advocating for and serving people with intellectual disabilities and their families. ▪ Founded in 1950, The Arc was comprised of a small group of concerned and passionate parents and community members who would be a catalyst for changing the public perception of children with disabilities. ▪ National headquarters in Washington DC. ▪ 700 state and local chapters nationwide.

The Arc Mission The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. Our Vision All children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are valued, included and recognized for their capabilities and contributions.

  3. The Greater Houston Area Chapter serves our constituents and the community in 3 major areas: 1. By providing life-enhancing activities and experiences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 4

  4. Saturday Funday ▪ Groups in Cy-Fair, Kingwood and Central Houston ▪ Activities such as movies, plays, zoo, karaoke, baseball games, festivals
