– Started in 1988 – Statewide administration every two years – Available every year

Survey Content

  • Paper/online versions (grades 7-12 only)
  • Measures:

– Alcohol, tobacco, inhalants, marijuana, other illicit drugs, prescription drugs – Frequency of use, peer use, access, perceived dangerousness, and related behaviors

Survey Process

  • Recruitment

– 600 schools statewide (43 Harris County) – Contacting district administrators first – Offering customized survey administration plus $500 payment

  • Survey Administration

– One class period to complete – December through last day of school – Randomly select 6 classes per grade

  • Report Generation

– Campus report available at no cost to schools in state sample – State, Regional, Border, Non-Border, & District* reports available

*for additional cost
