A Common Basic Web Screen Design Short Specification
Banner area: This area should have a fixed vertical depth of X1 pixels and is always anchored at the top. Its content stays the same no matter which questions are asked. Question area: This area should have a variable vertical depth which should automatically be adjusted according to its contents. This area should be as short or as long as needed, including if necessary, introducing a vertical scroll bar. The questions and answer categories come from the datamodel. Button area: This area should have a fixed vertical depth of X2 pixels, however, the button area should move up or down depending on the depth of the question area. This area should always start right after the end of the question area. This includes disappearing under the links area if necessary should the question area depth take up the visible space in the browser screen. Available space: This space is between the button area and the links area, and might disappear altogether if the question area depth take up the visible area of the browser screen. Links area: This area should always have a fixed vertical depth of X3 pixels and is always anchored to the bottom of the visible area of the browser screen. It is always visible and in the same place. Views: The views 1 through 4 show how this kind of browser screen works under various question area depths.
