Part 2 CMS Training Overview
The following contracts are to be entered into Temp Faculty Contracts in CMS:
1 semester & 1 year appointments including full-time appointments
less than full-time 3 year appointments
Note: If the faculty is/was eligible for an academic year or 3-year appointment, the contract type needs to be AY or 3-year appointment, not a semester appointment regardless if they did not work in Fall 2019 semester.
Temp Faculty appointments approved in CMS at Dean’s Office level by FRIDAY JANUARY 24
Conditions of Appointment (aka Page 2) must be provided to all temp faculty.

background check completed within the last 12 months on same campus

For those doing the approvals at the Dean’s Office level - If the faculty is
a new hire or the department changed the auto populated data - when you add a row to make the contract active, the grade on the first page of the added row of data may default to “1”. Please be sure to update that field upon saving. You can “view all” to see the previous page and verify what the grade should be.
Make sure to review the signed contracts that are returned to the
college/department ESPECIALLY the checkboxes at the bottom of the page.(See #4 on the Temporary Faculty Hiring page for more information.)

When approving Spring contracts, pay attention to the below on the Temp
Faculty Approval:
Faculty with AY contract, but who end up getting no Spring Assignment need to
notify payroll so they can cancel the contract.
Importance of completing new hire paperwork within 1 day with payroll. Audits,
no paycheck, etc.
Changes to employment with other PERS agency affecting retirement/service GSI – 2.5% (Effective 7/1/19). All eligible faculty should have received. Contact
your Analyst if you are unsure about the salary.
2019/20 Range Elevation: FTAS criteria is still in effect (last year). Work with
your OFA analyst to make sure faculty eligible under the FTAS criteria are included in the spring 2020 process

2-hour voluntary orientation for new, recently hired, or those who
would like to attend.
