Original Data Center CHALLENGES: • Customized non-industry standard hardware and software architecture; – Overwhelming majority of hardware was out-of-date; – Multiple instances of hardware failure throughout the 2014-15 academic year – impacting critical services for multiple days—age and heat related event from 2013-14; Heterogeneous environment (variety of data center hardware and hosting – software); Electrical distribution within the space – and improper cooling or not enough cooling; Limited redundancy in backups, – electrical, heating, cooling, and connectivity. 7

Benef Benefit its of Cur urrent ent Data Cent enter er So Solut lutio ion • LO LOCATION: – University of Oklahoma Norman & Oklahoma City • BE BENEFIT ITS: – This deployment method allows NPS to have a more reliable network to host our services. – Some of advantages include redundant network, redundant storage, Tier II/III power and cooling, less maintenance time and cost, and lower lifecycle cost. – Shared Services spans all University of Oklahoma campuses—with datacenters and IT professionals in Norman and Oklahoma City to provide local customer support. 9
