2010 Ribbon Cutting - Powell Road

The project consisted of the redesign and realignment of Powell Road. Design included a newly constructed four lane divide highway, with turn lanes, running from C-466A to SR 44. This project also entailed the acquisition of right of way, tree removal, storm water retention improvements and the addition of traffic signals.

The Boat Ramp at Coleman Landing has been closed for a number of years and in need of various upgrades. The Coleman Landing site was used as a staging area for equipment during the restoration of Lake Panasoffkee.

2010 Ribbon Cutting – Lake Miona Park

In March, 2010 The Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department began working with Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission on the need for an access dock at Lake Miona Park. That led to the construction of the access dock that was completed on April 23, 2010. The Sumter County Road and Bridge Department constructed the paved ramp leading up to the access dock, for handicap accessibility to and from the access dock. All funding for the access dock was provided by Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and funding for the paved ramp was provided by the Road and Bridge Department.

2010 Ribbon Cutting – Marsh Bend Access Dock

The Sumter County Parks and Recreation poured the concrete for the ramp leading to the access dock and installed yellow posts at the top of the ramp. On June 12, 2010 the access dock was

  • installed. Pavilions were also installed by the Sumter County Parks and Recreation. The gangway

and floating dock was funded by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.

2010 Ribbon Cutting – Resurfacing of CR476 E

The project consisted of milling and resurfacing the main line roadway with addition of two foot paved shoulders and in areas guardrails were installed. This project is approximately 3.1 miles in length running from US 301 to SR 471.

The project consisted of redesign and total reconstruction of CR 528 from the eastern right-of-way

  • f CR 526A to the western right-of-way of SR471 for a length of 2666’ or 0.51 miles. The contract

included the construction of two 12’ lanes with turn lanes at each end of project and two water retention areas with new drainage for the project.

The project was 3.778 miles in length and start at 200’ East of SR 471 and ends 100’ East of East Kings Avenue (48 E) in Center Hill

The project is 2.5 miles in length and starts at CR 459 and ends at I 75/CR 491 and includes sidewalk connectivity to the existing Lake Panasoffkee recreation center and the existing Lake Panasoffkee Elementary School.

2010 Ribbon Cutting – Lake Panasoffkee Recreational Park Improvements

Bushnell Dixie Youth Baseball League, Inc. used $19,000 grant funds to purchase a freezer, refrigerator, two burner stoves, 24” griddle, ice machine, hood with a fire suppression system, three bin sink, and two score boards. The Parks and Recreation Department re-laminated the concession stand counter tops, re-tiled the floors, realigned the T-Ball fields according to State measurements and landscaped the park to prepare for the State T-Ball Tournament which is being held at the park from June 18th through June 23rd.
