Governor’s Commission on Jobs for Floridians with Disabilities “…recommends the Department of Economic Opportunity, along with the support of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, serve as a single-point of contact for employers that would: 1) assist them to access people with disabilities who are ready and able to work, for recruitment and hiring purposes; and 2) provide information on available services and supports that make it possible for persons with disabilities to succeed in the workforce.” 9 abilitieswork.employflorida.c om 3

State of Florida Executive Order 13-284, Reaffirming Commitme nt to Employment for Floridians with Disabilities “I hereby reaffirm my commitment to employment f or persons wit h disabilities established by Executive Order 11-161. An interagency cooperative agreement shall be created among state agencies and other disabilities service organizations to ensure the continuat ion of this long-term commitment to improving employment outcomes for this population.” 10 abilitieswork.employflorida.c om Ab Abilities Works and Employment First Interagency Cooperative Agreement, Employment First Initiative One purpose of the agreement is to: “Develop and implement a long-term communications plan to … inform employers about the resources that are available to assist with their hiring needs, including the single-point of contact” 11 abilitieswork.employflorida.c om Em Employer use of Abilities Work Employers can: • register their business and post open jobs through the Abilities Work Web Portal, powered by the Employ Florida Marketplace • contact the Help Desk for assistance to recruit qualified applicants with disabilities who are served by Employment First members • find disability-related information and resources on the Web Portal and by calling the Help Desk 12 abilitieswork.employflorida.c om 4

  5. 5/20/16 Jo Job Seekers use of Abilities Work Job seekers can: • register and apply for jobs through the Abilities Work Web Portal, powered by the Employ Florida Marketplace(EFM) • receive assistance with their Abilities Work/EFM account and workforce services from their local CareerSource office • find disability-related information and resources on the Web Portal and by calling the Help Desk • be included in the talent pool by registering, posting a resume, or applying for services with an Employment First partner agency 13 abilitieswork.employflorida.c om 5
