SLIDE 3 What is Youth 19?
- A year dedicated to young people aged 12-24;
- Promote the voices, needs, priorities and rights of young people;
- Highlighting the positive contributions young people make to our
community;
- Supporting young people to take a leading role and
Make.Change.Happen;
- Providing partners with the opportunity to work more collaboratively
to improve outcomes for young people;
- Build effective cross border cooperation in the development and
delivery of youth participation programmes.

The request from young people is that council and partners facilitate and support a series of projects and events that are suitable for everyone which will;
- Promote positive health and wellbeing;
- Actively promote the meaningful engagement and participation
- f young people;
- Develop skills and provide clear career pathways.
Access and inclusion will be cross cutting across all themes and there will be additional opportunities to get involved with marketing, publicity and cultural programming.

Calendar of events
- Highlight events;

- Existing DCSDC/ Donegal events with new youth focus;
- Enhanced profile of existing youth events & activities;
- In-kind support to develop new or add value through business,
statutory and community and voluntary sector events/ activities. Example of in-kind support
- Garden of Reflection: Art Gallery dedicated to Youth Programming for
2019; Every Youth Counts
- Cross Border Cooperation proposal on mutually agreed priorities for
the participation of young people in the NW Region.

PEACE IV Children and Young Peoples Programmes
- Health and Wellbeing;
- Youth Participation and Democracy;
- Youth Citizenship and Leadership;
- Youth Zone.
Change Something Fund
- Small grants programme of £100,000 funded by DCSDC and Big
Lottery Fund;
- Grants of £500 to £3,000 for young people aged 13-24;
- YP will have the opportunity to apply and will make the decisions
about funding.

What do we hope to achieve?
- Greater collaboration and cooperation between partners working with
young people;
- Increased awareness and participation in existing youth services and
projects;
- More opportunities for young people to take part in programmes which
have been shaped by them e.g. PEACE IV programmes, Big Lottery – Change something fund;
- Young people will be more respected and included (SGP);
- Young people will be better able to realise their potential and become
active, responsible citizens (SGP);
