Curriculum Shifts – Science NGSS – Physical, Life, Life/Environmental, and Earth Science 7 th -Grade: The Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) include: structure and properties of matter, and chemical reactions. 8 th -Grade: The Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs) include: definitions of energy, conservation of energy and energy transfer, the relationship between energy and forces, energy in chemical process and everyday life and forces and motion, and types of interactions.
