Introduction: • The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) as coordinator of the National System of Statistical and Geographical Information of Mexico (SNIEG) has the attribution to issue the necessary provisions to regulate and coordinate it. • The regulations issued by INEGI, through its Governing Board, take into consideration the best international practices and are available for the State Units in the Normative Compilation System located in the SNIEG Portal (www. snieg.mx), in the section called “The Norms of SNIEG” . • The Normative Compilation System contains the regulations that must be known and applied by the members of the SNIEG for the production, integration and dissemination of Information of National Interest, as well as provisions related to the coordination between the State Units that comprise it. 2

Introduction: • The Coordination Normativity regulates the participation of the State Units in the collegiate bodies of the SNIEG, for the execution of joint activities that are directed by INEGI in its capacity as Coordinator of the System. • The Technical Normativity is integrated by the provisions that regulate the collection, processing and publication of information about socio-demographic, economic, government, public security, justice, geographic, environmental and territorial and urban development matters. • By 2018, the Normative Compilation System has 15 documents of normative provisions about coordination and 23 technical regulations, 10 of them related to statistical matters and 13 to the geographical area. 3
