  7. Planni anning ng and preparat ratio ion  I conducted research prior to conducting survey to ensure I had the correct background information and to clarify the survey purpose.  I had to set my objectives  The study areas were selected, followed by the sample size and method  The questionnaire was drawn up and approved by the Project Director Fieldw eldwork ork  While out on the field I needed to be aware of how to gather primary data and to work in participation with the other staff members.  Due to the fact this was a sensitive topic and I was operating in a different environment I needed to be inter-culturally sensitive and respectful at all times

  8. Data processin ssing g and analys ysis is  At this stage it was vital that I knew how to analyse the information we had gathered; reading through all the questionnaires and evaluating the information Drawing ing up results  Once the appropriate data was gathered and analysed I then had to compile the information, input it into the computer and draw up suitable charts to graphically represent the results, followed by an explanation.

  9.  Hands on experience  Developed competence in methods and work practices applied  Worked well in teams  Better able to relate with people from differing backgrounds  Effective communication  Improved coping mechanisms  Self-awareness of my strengths and weaknesses
