Unsustainable energy production and a dependency on fossil fuel-based consumption is one of the crucial factors to anthropogenic climate change. To avoid reaching critical thresholds and possible tipping points with irreversible cataclysmic environmental change, it is of utmost importance to create a paradigm shift within energy production and consumption. Smart Energy Road and Traffjc System (SERTS), a spin-ofgs of the World Ecological Forum activities, provides a paradigmatic and instrumental platform to facilitate the development of a new era of sustainability. A synergetic multilateral cluster of partners will form an alliance to conduct research, develop, test, demonstrate, and analyse the technical and commercial viability of this revolutionising sustainable energy harvesting and mobile wireless charging technology. Smart Energy Road and Traffjc System (SERTS) - an intelligent energy harvesting and wireless electric charging road network - accelerates the electrification of traffjc. SERTS provides sustainable energy not only for the actual smart road system, but also for surrounding buildings and infrastructure. SERTS will create the core for micro smart grids. It will also provide a new type of energy supply for not only traffjc, but also for all other purposes.

One of the most exciting race & test circuits in the world

  • The 3.2 km Northern Loop (already operational) and the next phase Southern Loop combined will

provide a unique 7.4 km Grand Prix/test circuit profile

  • After 2014, a multipurpose track network totaling approx. 28 km with six(6) separate grand loops -

including a Smart Energy Road and Traffjc System with wireless inductive charging for EVs - will be possible to install

  • Racing champions consider the already existing 3.2 km Northern Loop as one of the most exciting and

challenging circuit profiles in the world

The intended green business campus area - which already includes the world's first ecological test and race circuit - all electric vehicles can be recharged with 100% windpower. Gotland Ring - the first sustainable test and race track in the world - has previously hosted testing and worldwide new model launches for Honda (for example, the hydrogen electric Honda FCX Clarity) and BMW (introduction of the so called Effjcient Dynamics technology). A demonstration and test platform on northern Gotland can facilitate the analysis of the technical and commercial viability for energy harvesting and wireless inductive charging and resonant inductive coupling. The facility enables multilateral partnerships for the development of paradigm shifting technologies and concepts within renewable energy harvesting, micro smart grid development, electric intelligent mobility and traffjc systems. SERTS can become an instrumental part of a Nordic contribution towards a more sustainable mobility; the on-going game change within the automotive industry provides a unique opportunity for the region to gain a significant new role as an innovator, and therefore, capture new territory in the largest business in the world.
