  2. The Backstory Smart Boards. The initial purchase of 9 Smart boards was implemented under the direction of our Administrative team. It was under the assumption that we would be supported by our Technology Department and would be able to use already purchased computers which the school had already purchased. What Really Happened. Since the stated goal of this project was to impact as many students and teachers as possible, having the units mounted in the classrooms was not an option. We needed laptops. No means yes. Yes, we have laptops. No we will not configure them for you. There seemed little reason to have to wait since 90% of the Pieces were in place. Therefore we configured the computers ourselves. They work great. No problem. Smart boards the SGS way. We are Technology Visionaries. We cannot be stopped. Thursday, March 10, 2011

While the presence of Smart Boards in the district had been rumored, because there is no central clearing house for information we realized we were on our own. This is where that good old educational buzzword: Team-building shows up. Our administrative team was crucial in identifying both people who have shown an interest in integrating technology and those who would benefit from the experience. It was an interesting mix, and one that works. Someone must lead them. In our case two individuals came forward as natural team leaders. They were responsible for liaison with school administration , setting up team meetings and most importantly making sure the that the tech worked and that the technologists knew how to use it.
