Important Considerations

  • Is this a policy issue, boundary issue, or both?
  • If the policy is changed when will the change take

effect?

  • Changing to a middle school configuration may not be

allowed by CDE due to space

  • Making boundary changes apart from the District’s

boundary change process may have negative consequences

Recommendation

  • Consider a policy change

○ Remove current enrollment criteria ○ Begin with incoming Kindergarten applicants ○ Phase in any configuration change

  • Add Downtown to boundary committee discussion

○ Coincide any changes with changes across the District ○ Allow for consideration of impact District-wide
