Licence
Sets out the authorized activities, licence period and all conditions deemed necessary Licence issued by Commission or Designated Officer (DO) Proponent must be qualified to carry on the activity, make adequate provisions for protection of environment, health and safety of people, national security and international obligations Regulatory requirements and guidance documents used to assess submissions, including proposed programs and safety and control measures Proponent must also comply with other federal, provincial or territorial, and municipal legislation that apply

Describes requirements, expectations and guidance for compliance with each licence condition Read in conjunction with the licence Provide compliance verification criteria for each licence condition Includes criteria applied by CNSC to evaluate licensee’s compliance

The licensing basis is a set of requirements and documents for a regulated activity comprising
– the regulatory requirements set out in the applicable laws and regulations – the conditions and safety and control measures described in the facility’s or activity’s licence, and the documents directly referenced in that licence – the safety and control measures described in the licence application and the documents needed to support that licence application

CNSC is committed to building positive, long-term relationships with Indigenous peoples in Canada CNSC leads a whole-of-government approach to improve the efficiency/effectiveness of engagement and consultation processes As an agent of the Crown, CNSC consults with potentially impacted Indigenous peoples to understand and address potential impacts to Aboriginal or treaty rights from a project CNSC requires licensees to engage with potentially affected Indigenous peoples early in the development and throughout the life of their project CNSC invites Indigenous peoples to participate in regulatory reviews and share relevant traditional land use practices / knowledge and project-specific concerns
