  10. What to Look For Course Reference Number (CRN) • CRN is the 5-digit number required when registering • Type numbers for your courses into boxes when registration opens at 2:00 p.m. mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

  11. What to Look For Subject (Subj) and Course (Crse) • Each subject you search has a specific 4-letter code abbreviation • Each course has an assigned 3-digit number • Subj + Crse columns combined identify the specific course you are searching mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

What to Look For Section (Sec) • Each specific section offered has an assigned 3-digit number  200-numbered = Honors designated section; enrollment restricted to students admitted in Business or University Honors program; see Attribute  500-numbered = General undergraduate course numbering, fall and spring semesters; restrictions may apply mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

  13. What to Look For Credit (Cred) • Number identifies credit hours associated with specific course • Most courses are 3 credits; can range between 1 to 4 depending on course • 12 – 15 hours (4 – 5 courses) is typical for a first-semester freshman mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

What to Look For Restrictions/Details • Check restrictions BEFORE adding a CRN to your trial schedule • Click on “ Restrictions/Details ” link  Restrictions may include, but not limited to, Major, Attribute, Classification  If restriction lists requirements that you do not meet, the registration system will NOT allow you to register • See ISYS 210-200 restrictions example listed to the right mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

What to Look For Days • Each course section has assigned meeting days • Pay close attention to the day(s) on which a course section meets • Meeting times per week can range from one (1) to as many as three (3) per week • T represents Tuesday and R represents Thursday mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

  16. What to Look For Time • The time class meets for instruction; length of time varies according to meeting days per week • Note the time of day for meeting; allow at least 20 minutes between each class mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

What to Look For Capacity (Cap), Actual (Act), and Remaining (Rem) Enrollment • Cap is maximum number of student registrations allowed for section • Act is number of students currently registered for section • Rem is the number of seats remaining for registration **If Rem column lists 0 or a ( – ) number, DO NOT plan to register for that section** mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

  18. What to Look For Instructor • Course instructor by section is listed; a highlighted name means it is linked to online information about instructor • When ‘TBA’ is listed it means the department has not yet assigned an instructor mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850

  19. What to Look For Date • Lists the inclusive semester dates for class meetings  In this example, ISYS 210-501 has common exam times.   21. What to Look For Attribute • A course, or section, may have an assigned designation or ‘attribute’, e.g. Core Curriculum, Honors, etc. • If a course has an assigned attribute it will be listed in this column mays.tamu.edu 979-862-3850
