The vision, why do we want this?

”Medical images and videos are not stored digitally - or they are stored in different departmental systems, on a USB stick or a shared file system. RFP: Clinical user scenarios

Patient in the hospital, endoscopic examination Ola Nordmann, age 27, arrives for a gastroscopy
- examination. The consultation is scheduled in the
appointment book. A bleeding stomach ulcer is found and documented by still images and video. A specific still image and 10 seconds of video are labelled as the grounds for the physician's decision for subsequent
- treatment. This labelling must be stored together with the
- image. Use of the images and video as a reference for
examinations is desired for new check-ups every 6
- months. During the next examination/check-up, the
physician is particularly interested in the labelled image/video and would like them to be displayed very clearly in the viewer/capture user interface. Interdisciplinary meeting with patient present There is an interdisciplinary meeting at the ear, nose and throat
- ward. The participants at the meeting include the patient,
relatives, three ear, nose and throat specialists, three
- ncologists, a dental hygienist and two nurses. The patient is
registered as having shown up in the attendance list in the EHR. The responsible physician activates the patient in the EHR and retrieves the preselected images/recordings from the DMA. The physicians discuss the patient's condition, and they see the need to retrieve even more historical images/recordings. After having evaluated all the images, they agree on a further treatment
- programme. The patient is brought into the meeting, examined
with a laryngoscope, and the findings are documented with images in the DMA. A picture of the oral cavity tumour is taken with a digital camera and stored in the DMA.
