  • 8 bridges contain fracture critical members that must be inspected on

a yearly basis

  • 14 bridges require element level inspections
  • 9 bridges require CSX and/or NS Entry Agreements
  • Ability to secure agreements before inspections begin is mandatory (July

2017)

  • 4 bridges contain submerged elements which are inspected every 5

years

  • A portion of submerged elements on 1 bridge is inspected every 2

years due to existing cracking

  • All bridge safety inspection reports shall be submitted by the GEC on

behalf of the RMTA to VDOT upon completion
