‘Raspberry Pi is useful for my business?’

SURE IT IS!

• But please consider ‘Raspberry Pi Foundation’ is

NPO for children IT education.

• And consider Raspberry Pi itself is not so stronger

than any other Embedded board,which is for factory automation or etc..

• but it is very stronger than any other similar one

ANOTHER ASPECT

• Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd is trading subsidiary for

their business function.

• Raspberry Pi Foundation continues to going on

their charity projects for the children education as NPO.

COMPUTE MODULE

• Raspberry Pi Compute module is DIMM-sized tiny

PC for embedded computing.

• There are some partners which has the products

including Compute Module.

• Camera,Audio equipments and etc..

fine on Raspberry Pi

• Now latest Raspbian supports many USB-DAC

devices with not-recompiling-kernel

• be careful to noise..often makes annoyed.

CASE:RYUKYU BANK

• Ryukyu Bank had used ‘Cable Broadcastings’ for

their branch bank music streaming system.

• Now they have replaced it with Raspberry Pi-

based streaming systems and broadcast the musics from their central information center to all the branches and plans to broadcast original music..etc

ROBOTS

• ROBOTS is hobby using Raspberry Pi
• RAPIRO Raspberry Pi Programable Robot work

fine with Raspberry Pi and Eben loves it.

• Lego Mindstorm also works with Raspberry Pi
• Using it for the business is a few - but good.

CASE:FUTUREAGRI

• Kabaya-san has dropped out a biggest

manufacturer company to decide the farmer..

• but it is very hard work for him to do that and feel

very difficult to employ someone for his help so he decided using the robot.

• He says ‘Raspberry Pi is very cheap and powerful!’

TINY BUSINESS USE

• Tiny business use is for the beginner getting used

the business solution and learning how it works.

• Almost is like ‘hobby’ though you can try those

solutions and have the experience ‘crash and build’ again and again with the cheap Raspberry Pi

• Sure,almost should be used on ‘x86’ systems ;)

• Koichi Nakamuka,CEO of Idein made Raspberry Pi

Zero Cluster unit for ‘tiny’ HPC.

• Eben is very interested in such a very small cluster

and gave the zeros to him fulfill PiZeros on his units.

AS A SERVER

• Raspberry Pi 3 works great as internet server.
• mail,web,dns..
• storages
• Almost has the packages for Raspberry Pi that

works fine.

• there are some solutions using Raspberry Pis as a

network devices using mobile network.

using the programable/UI control management system.they planing to expand their business over 130 countries.

• it can suspend/resume on the cloud
• its speeds can control on the cloud

LATEST UPDATES

HOW ABOUT PIZERO

• Pi Zero is still tightly supplied 1unit/person/order

each vendors.ton of demands makes crazy..

• There are 4 distributors for PiZero planing to add

more resellers when ‘claiming down’..

• Adafruits,Pimoroni,PiHut and Microcenter.
• Note it is NOT by Element14 and RS components

ROLLING UPDATES

• Raspberry Pi is very old - ARM11-based.
• The foundation announces they will produce old

raspberry pi 1 for a while for the education customers.

• a few apps only work on RPi 1
• but some has already updated - Camera,RPi A+

UPDATE PI 3 HARDWARE(1)

• Xenon Death Flash fixing - but it could works

xenon closing the devices.

• Pi 3 Compute module/Pi 3 model A+ - New! but

haven’t released - CM already finished testing.

UPDATE PI 3 HARDWARE(2)

• RPi 3 probably needs to have a heatsink for its

CPU

• it is over 85 degrees not having it.
• 5/3A AC is needed but almost works 5/2-2.5A
• fulfilled by USB dongles…

UPDATE SOFTWARE

• Raspbian still release 32bit - it is only 30% higher

than RPi 2 it is expected and not so faster using 64 bit

• ‘Down-compatible’ is the first priority.
• Engineers at the foundation they don’t plan

64bit because its speeds are not so improved.

CONCLUSION

• Raspberry Pi is useful for your business.
• wondering AGL is supported (but it is for

developers)

• might be better factory/business ‘bearable’ boards.
• There are some good case with tiny computing!
