About Us Laboratory Epidemiology 5 Laboratorians and 1 part time WGS 6 epis on various aspects of enteric • • diseases/outbreaks • 1.5 dedicated to WGS 3 part-time students on enteric disease • PFGE, WGS, MALDI-TOF, Conventional • interviews microbiology testing District epis conduct ~50% interviews • WGS Instrumentation – 3 MiSeqs, and 1 • QIAcube CDC programs: FoodNet, OBNE • GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

  7. 2019 Plan of Action Laboratory Epidemiology Cases reported within 7 days Specimens or isolates required • • Interview selections every Monday and WGS for all isolates associated with cases • • Thursday selected for interview (approx 40%) Cases attempted for interview within 7 days of Conventional serotyping for all others • • selection WGS for any requested isolates • Collaborations Electronic module in SendSS: • Notifiable disease cases • ELR data from GPHL • Variables in notifable disease cases (selected for interview, interviewed, outbreak) • Sent to NARMS variable from ELR • WGS ID for completed isolates GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH
