Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS - PowerPoint PPT Presentation

Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Health & Safety: Install a modern integrated building entry access system, intrusion detection, IP based video camera system, P.A. systems

  1. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Health & Safety: Install a modern integrated building entry access system, intrusion detection, IP based video camera system, P.A. systems and fire alarms. Install systems to create more secure single point of entries at each school and intruder quick lock classroom door locksets. Reconfigure traffic patterns at both campuses.

  2. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Technology Education: We would renovate the 1950’s era shop area into multiple learning labs to support our engineering and advanced manufacturing programs. The lab would include areas for processing metal, plastic, and wood materials into high quality precision products; as well as areas for robotics, computer science and CAD. This space would be organized in the same fashion as a modern manufacturing facility.

  3. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Music & Performing Arts: We would re-locate the H.S. band & choral rooms to be adjacent to the auditorium. This performing arts suite would include practice spaces, equipment storage, as well as space for our drama productions.

  4. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Science: We would relocate two H.S. science rooms to be adjacent to our “science wing.” These two rooms along with two M.S. science rooms, that have not been touched since 1973, would be upgraded to replicate science lab classrooms students might experience in college.

  5. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Fine Arts: Currently our art classrooms are located on separate floors. We would re-locate the 2 nd floor art room to the 1 st floor adjacent to other current art room and provide space for ample storage for student work as well as program supplies.

  6. Proposition #1 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Our 26 year old track has significant cracks and uneven surfaces that has caused us to cancel home meets for two years. We would reconstruct with proper drainage and top off with a rubberized resilient surface, as well as widen the track; so soccer and field hockey can also host contests on the field within the track. We would install stadium lighting and replace the scoreboard for the stadium field.

  7. Proposition #2 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Library Media Center (LMC): Freeing up the space where the current middle school library is located will allow us to offer mandated services to students in an environment that is proper. We are currently using locker rooms and store rooms to provide services. We also know that education evolves over time and our space needs will be different in 2040 than they are today. Let’s recall that in 1973, when the last major high school renovation was completed there were no plans for computer labs or even special education as the federal law regulating special education known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) would not be enacted for two more years. This project, if approved would provide us flexible learning spaces to meet our future needs.

  8. Proposition #2 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Library Media Center (LMC): The library media centers would be central to the entire secondary campus and provide flexible space with moving partitions to allow for small classroom learning or large group instruction. The space will be designed to allow staff to monitor both libraries from a central circulation desk, allowing both libraries to stay open even if one librarian is involved with a class, which currently we are unable to do. The design of the space will create physical barriers between each library as students will approach the library media centers from separate corridors and have separate entrances.

  9. Proposition #2 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Library Media Center (LMC): Our libraries must close for over three weeks per year to host testing accommodations as well as AP exams and other events. Proposition #2 would allow us to provide quiet space for students to take these tests and not interfere with the hundreds of students who utilize our libraries each day.

  10. Proposition #2 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Library Media Center (LMC): The reallocation of space will allow for our English and Arts departments to have space for a digital media lab(currently housed in a cramped ¼ size room) as part of the LMC. There would also be space for our student IT help desk that services both teachers and students K-12.

  11. Proposition #3 VOTING IS MARCH 22nd; 1PM-9PM AT CE & EJA SCHOOLS Instead of this: We could have: Physical Education and Athletics: C-A offers 36 team sports to student athletes in grades 7-12. Currently over 68% of students participate in at least one sport during the school year. Each year over 90% of our varsity teams are recognized by New York State as scholar athlete teams. C-A sports teams have captured 14 conference titles since 2011. During the fall sports season, C-A hosts over 100 home contests. Unfortunately due to poor field conditions we have had to relocate several scheduled home sectional contests to neutral sites. P.E classes are limited to using the fields to PM classes and early fall and late spring due to moisture retention on the fields.
