Introduction  The women ’ s movement in the Philippines 1970 ’ s (martial law era) and 1980 ’ s   There were those from the “ underground ” as well as from NGOs which were into development work.  Addressed “ women ’ s issues and concerns within the context of a nationalist agenda for genuine agrarian reforms, nationalist industrialization, and peace with justice. ”

  18. Results and Discussion  Formation of Women ’ s Organizations  The Provincial Federation of United Women in Bukidnon, Inc. (PFUWBI) was organized through the initiative of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).  a unified body with 22 chapter members from the 20 municipalities and 2 cities of Bukidnon.  It undertakes the advocacy of promoting economic, social and political empowerment of women.  It is an independent body but works alongside with Local Government Unit (LGU) women ’ s organizations under Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women Incorporated (PFLCW), Rural Improvement Club (RIC), LUMAD, Catholic Women's League (CWL), Barangay Health Workers (BHW), (Women in the Government Service (WINGS), and government organizations (GOs) and non-government organization (NGOs) that share the same vision.

Success Stories  Malaybalay City Federation of Local Council of Women's, Inc (MCFLCW),  awarded in 2012 as the 3 rd Outstanding Local Councils of Women by the Philippine Federation of Local Council of Womens, Inc. (PFLCW, Inc.).  The PFLCW, Inc. has seen evidences of valuable initiatives and contribution of Malaybalay City Women's Federation in empowering women through its various activities on livelihood and environmental preservation.

  27. Success Stories  The participation of the women in Imbayao, Malaybalay City is outstanding not only in terms of number of members but also of the quality of participation of members.  Only 5 % of the women in their barangay are not members.
