Project Title : Strengthening Women’s Organizations in Bukidnon Study 1 :Enhancing Leadership and Management Skills of Municipal Women’s Federation Presidents Study 2 :Sustaining Activities and Projects of Women’s Organizations in Bukidnon Proponents :Departments of Behavioral Sciences and Social Sciences Project Leader : Eva N. Mendoza, Ph.D. Study 1 Leader : Alisa M. Cabacungan, M.A. Study 2 Leader : Eva N. Mendoza, Ph.D. Collaborators : Angelita I. Jacobe, M.A. Implementing Agency: Central Mindanao University Funding Agencies : Central Mindanao University, Provincial Federation of United Women of Bukidnon, Inc. (PFUWBI) and Provincial and Municipal LGUs Duration : 1 year (for initial implementation) Rationale : The implementation of Republic Act (R.A.) 9710 or known as the “Magna Carta of Women” recognizes the role of women in nation building. It ensures women’s participation in political, social, economic, cultural, and civic activities. The formation of women’s organizations in Bukidnon manifests a dynamic response to the said legislation. Consequently, Central Mindanao University (CMU) through its Gender and Development (GAD) funds supported a research project entitled: “Analysis on the Structures and Dynamics of Women’s Organizations in Bukidnon: Basis for Gender and Development Initiatives”, last June, 2012- May, 2013. The primary

  • bjective of the said project is to come up with a basis for conceptualization of more responsive and

relevant extension activities or any development initiatives. Findings of the said study revealed that there is a need for strengthening the women’s organizations in the province. While the requisite for organizing and mobilizing is already addressed, there is a need to capacitate these

  • rganizations, particularly the leaders. It is necessary to enhance their leadership and management

skills in order to ensure sustainability of their activities, thus creating more positive impact on the individual lives of women in particular, and on the province or the country in general. Expected Output : Training modules Evaluation tools for enhanced leadership skills Proposed plans (of activities/projects) formulated by women’s organizations Monitoring and evaluation tools Resolutions made by women’s organizations and MOAs
