What it means to be a high school student taking college classes

slide-8
SLIDE 8
  • Students are expected to behave like adults and manage their time.
  • Attendance is mandatory to all high school and college classes.
  • Students must adhere to the MCHS Ed Plan.
  • Students must maintain a GPA of 2.8 to remain in the program.
  • MCHS is a closed campus and students are expected to remain on campus at all times.
slide-9
SLIDE 9
  • MCHS has no organized sports program. Students who wish to play for their home

school must get permission from the principal and maintain a 3.0 GPA.

  • Students may join MCHS and CCC clubs for academic enrichment.
  • Students are expected to take notes and ask questions. They must be proactive

learners and actively seek solutions to all aspects of college and high school life.

  • For parents and family members, this means no access to the college professors.

Students are required to advocate for themselves.

studen ents will g graduate with an AA degr gree. ee.

  • FACT- Students who graduate from MCHS earn transferable credits to

UCs and CSUs. Credits that they earn can be used towards an AA degree in Liberal Arts: Math & Science, which takes anywhere from 4- 5 years to complete.

  • FACT- Although students are guaranteed to graduate from MCHS with

transferable credit, many other factors will be considered when applying to a 4-year college or university, such as the college itself, major requirements, the number of credits taken each semester, whether or not a major is impacted, etc. The list goes on…

  • FACT- Middle College math standards are different from traditional high

first week of school. Students will be placed in either Algebra 1 or Geometry freshman year based on the results of the test. Our goal is to perfect their math skills and retention abilities prior to beginning college level math courses.
