Policy No: 16 Presentation Policy 2 Aims of the policy are:

  • To ensure consistency in presentation of work across the academy in all key

stages.

  • To clarify to students, staff and parents how students’ written work should be

presented to maintain a consistent standard across the academy.

  • To ensure all students take pride in the presentation of their work to support

progress. At Clapton Girls’ Academy, all staff and students will place great importance on the presentation of their work in both book work and when submitting homework or assignment work. Students will follow the Pride in Presentation rules and have a Pride in Presentation information sheet to refer back to and follow in the front of every book, for every lesson. (Please see appendix 1)

  • 1. PRIDE IN PRESENTATION FOR EXERCISE BOOKS/FOLDERS EXPECTATIONS

1. Write in blue or black pen. 2. Use a green pen for peer assessment and for improving your work. 3. Write the date as a number in the margin eg. 29.9.2017. 4. Underline the title with a ruler. 5. Draw all diagrams and graphs in pencil, using a ruler. 6. Use a highlighter to identify key words or terms. 7. Write the learning objective for each lesson under the title. 8. Mistakes should be crossed out neatly with one line using a ruler. 9. Do not waste space or tear out pages in your book. 10. Only write the student’s name, class and the subject teacher’s name on the front cover. New books should be issued only on completion of a book.

Policy No: 16 Presentation Policy 3 When teachers mark and feedback to students on their work they will use the Clapton Girls’ Academy marking and feedback presentation rules.

  • 2. FEEDBACK ON SPELLING AND GRAMMAR PRESENTATION RULES

SP: write the word again with the correct spelling KV: replace the word with key vocabulary //: start a new paragraph Eg: give a specific example to illustrate this point SE: write in Standard English P: add correct punctuation G: rewrite this sentence using the correct grammar by writing the words in the right order Codes for editing your work:  This is correct  This is correct and detailed  Great effort X this is wrong

  • 3. PRESENTATION OF MARKING AND FEEDBACK RULES

To ensure consistency and maintain outstanding standards in feedback and assessment all teachers will:

  • 1. Mark in red pen using the agreed marking codes
  • 2. Use WWW (what went well) to show how a student has met the success criteria
  • 3. Use EBI (even better if) to tell the student what to do to improve
  • 4. Use STAIR (Student Time to Assess, Improve and respond) time in lesson for

students to respond to marking and improve in green pen.

  • 5. Ensure all student peer and self-assessment is completed in green pen and any

corrections are completed using green pen to evidence progress in their work.

  • 4. MONITORING OF STUDENT WORK

To monitor the quality and presentation of student work, all teachers will comment on how well students are presenting their work. Through the termly Book Look procedure and Learning Walks, HOF / HOP will lead their teams to audit students’ books with a clear focus on progress and presentation. Leadership Team will support all teachers in this process. Parents will be informed about the expectations regarding the presentation of students’ work via Information meetings, parents’ evenings and the academy website. Parents can also play an active role in monitoring the presentation of students’ work.

Taking Pride in Presentation

The presentation of your work is very important. Your book reflects the standard

  • f your work and your attitude to learning. We want you to be very proud of your

book.

Pride in Presentation Rules Feedback on Spelling & Grammar Rules

  • 1. Write in blue or black pen.
  • 2. Use
