What is TITAN?

2

TITAN essentially serves as Tennessee’s Traffic Records Management System. This network is comprised of two components:

  • A Stand Alone Software Application
  • Online Web Portal

Goals

3

  • Reduce submission of paper crash, citation, and

crime reports (Eliminate Manual Processes)

  • Increase data available for Data Driven Decision

Making (Pro-active vs. Re-active Enforcement)

  • Improve allocation of resources
  • Safer Roadways and Communities
slide-4
SLIDE 4

Currently

  • 320+agencies submitting electronically
  • 150,000+ reports in the last 12 months
  • 91% timely submission (7 days or less)
  • 87% use Map-It tool

Map-It Enhancement

  • Integration

Integrated with E-CRASH, E-CITATION, and E- CRIME components of the TITAN system.

  • Improved Location Data

Officers will be able to access the state map and pick a location on the map for every event.

  • Eliminate Dependency on GPS Devices

Agencies will no longer need GPS devices to enter the required coordinates into TITAN.

TITAN Predictive Analytics Program Goals & Objectives

  • Using IBM SPSS modeler software to build

statistical models indicating where traffic crashes and other traffic safety incidents are most likely to

  • ccur
  • Provides management tools to THP Command

Staff and Supervisors, as well as our local law enforcement partners, for use in optimizing the allocation of resources and manpower

  • Generates Law Enforcement Visibility in the right

locations at the right times in order to maximize impact on traffic safety

TITAN Predictive Analytics Crash Model Overview

 Predicts likelihood of

serious injury and fatal crashes

 Identifies areas of

concern by time of day, day of week, and geographic location

 Time: Outputs in 4-hour

blocks, by day, by week

 Location: Outputs for

District, County, Tenth-Degree (6 mi. x 5 mi.) Squares

 Differs from reporting

solely on historical data

 Predicts when / where

crashes are most likely to occur
