Ability to Benefit Update

  • Washington state has awarded 85 Pell grants through

Ability to Benefit totaling nearly $270k

  • 31 of those awards came from 9 colleges in our CTC system
  • 41 came from the university system, including 32 from

Evergreen State College

  • 13 came from private/for-profit colleges (NW University and

Charter College)

  • Washington comes in 26th nationwide for number of awards

I-BEST FTE Enrollments

  • I-BEST grew by 14% in 2017-18 for a total of 3031 FTES
  • This is contrast to declining FTES system-wide (-1%) and in

BEdA (-5%)

  • Colleges supported by the legislative allocation exceeded

their target of 120 additional FTES

  • We are continuing to support additional funding for I-BEST

and Opportunity Grants through materials like “Opportunities for Success”
