Living on Campus: Community & Social Connection • Resident Assistants coordinate programming and create a sense of home on campus throughout the years • Our staff hosted 326 programs in Baker and EWT collectively last year • Programs are an opportunity to meet friends, learn about Wentworth, and complement our student’s educational experience. • Signature Events: • Large-scale programs • Moonlight Breakfast • Leopard Loot

  8. First Year Communities: Baker Hall • Home to 277 residential students • Students are staying in Baker Hall during New Student Orientation • Baker features 6 common room spaces, including a study lounge

  9. First Year Communities: Evans Way/Tudbury Hall • Home to 537 residential students • Suite style housing • Common rooms and bathrooms are located within each suite. • Evans Way / Tudbury features common room and lounge spaces.

Im Important Processes: Housing Agreement & Policies • Housing agreement – available now to all students who have submitted a housing down-payment. • Agreement due end of day Friday, July 5th, 2019. • Must submit housing agreement in order to partake in the housing selection process! • Transfer students are typically placed within upper-class communities and work with the Office of Housing & Residential Life to find a good fit. • Please have student review information in housing agreement carefully – including residential policies

Im Important Processes: Housing Selection & Billing • Our staff will be giving students an overview of the housing selection process this evening. • Housing selection dates: Monday, July 15 th , 2019 – Friday, July 19 th , 2019. • Your student’s selection time is randomized and will fall on one of those days. • First year students are pre-billed at a Baker double bedroom rate with an A meal plan. • Housing costs are then adjusted upon housing selection; bill may increase or decrease depending on what the student selects. • Transfer students are pre-billed at a 610 Huntington Ave. double bedroom rate with a C meal plan. • Housing costs are then adjusted upon housing selection; bill may increase or decrease based on where the student is placed.

Im Important Processes: FY Housing Selection Step: Action Needed: Due Date: PAST DUE – Submit to Student Service Center Submit housing down-payment Submit $500 housing down-payment to secure spot on campus ASAP Complete housing agreement which qualifies student for the Friday, July 5 th Complete housing agreement housing selection process At orientation, students will: • Meet potential roommates Attend orientation N/A • Decide where they may want to live in Fall 2019 • Have all housing questions answered On Friday, June 28 th , students will receive an email from Review all housing selection guides Review before forming roommate group housing@wit.edu with detailed housing selection instructions Starting Friday, June 28 th form roommate groups for Fall 2019 by All roommate groups must be formed by Friday, Form a roommate group utilizing the housing selection guide July 12 th Starting Tuesday, July 9 th , log into Residence to see what time Find out your housing selection time N/A student/student’s roommate group are assigned to select Starting Tuesday, July 9 th , student logs into Residence and sees See available spaces on Residence N/A what spaces they may want to select during housing selection Varied – takes place Monday, July 15 th – Friday, One member of roommate group, acting as the group leader, will Select your housing July 19 th select group’s housing

Im Important Processes: Residency Requirement & Meal Plan • Residency requirement • All first-time first-year students are required to live on campus for their first two years at Wentworth. • There are several exemptions to this requirement; students need to fill out an exemption request. • All first year students are required to have the “A” meal plan. • Meal plan is a declining balance • Fenway cash is a great option for vending and laundry.

Im Important Processes: First Year Student Move In • First Year Student Move-In is: • Friday, August 30 th , 2019! • Our office will be in touch in early August with information about your move-in time and logistics • The entire Wentworth community is on hand to help make your student’s arrival to campus a positive experience. • Move-In Process: • Arrive at West Lot, student heads to check in area. • Family unloads student belongings. • Car is moved to a secondary parking lot. • Student moves into their residential community.

  16. We’re excited you’re here! • Encourage your student to connect and get involved. • Coach your student in facing challenges throughout all aspects of their college experience. • Join us in being part of the Wentworth family. We have the same goal as you… EVERY STUDENT THRIVES!

  17. Encourage your student to get involved on campus. Help your student learn the basics of living on campus – the proper way to do laundry, cleaning their room, etc. Dress comfortably on move in day. Advice from other families Talk about how you’d like to communicate – encourage your student to take time to meet new friends. Encourage your student to find “their person” on campus – someone who has good advice and can be a good support. Connect with other Wentworth parents and families!
